The first career choice that I decided on was Botany, which is the scientific study of plants. To be a botanist, you need at least a bachelor's degree in botany. There are also masters and PhD degrees in botany too. The starting pay is 33,000 dollars a year, but after about 30 years of experience, you'll be making around 108,000 dollars a year. The motivation of most people wanting to go into this career is the love of plants and the study of plants, along with the enormous salary.

My second career choice is entomology, which is the study of insects. To be a certified entomologist, you need at least 2-4 years of college. The average salary of an entomologist is 51,000 dollars a year. The motivation of most people going into entomology is for the love of insects or the study of insects, while the salary would drive some away.

The first career choice that I decided on was biochemistry, which is the study of chemical processes in living organisms. It takes at least 4 years to get a bachelor’s in biochemistry at a college or university. The starting pay for a beginning biochemist is 40,000 to 45,000 dollars. If you are interested in the process of living organisms and the creation of new vaccines/cures biochemist is the career of you.
My second career choice is aquatic Oceanography, which is the study of aquatic systems. To be a certified Oceanographer you need an aquatic science degree with will take at least 2-4 years of college. The average salary of an aquatic science major is 77,890 dollars. If you are interested in aquatic life and the marine life system of the ocean this is the career for you.

I didn't know Marine Biologist could make so much money up to 110K that a lot and I'm very interested in marine life so, these career will probably be the perfect career for me. But it seems like it take some time to get that degree 4-6 year that's long compared to other degree in marine degrees.

Forensic Science as always been an interesting topic to me I always love watch true TV and how forensic scientist help solve crime's with the smallest of evidence. I have always love science in school working with chemicals and etc. I really interested in these career but the salary is so low that not the projected salary I want for my long term career.

Career: Industrial Microbiology and Biotechnology

Education: Doctoral degree 3 to 5 years

Salary: Median—$54,840 per year

Motivation for investigating this career: Industrial microbiology or microbial biotechnology is the application of scientific and engineering principles to the processing of materials by microorganisms. Which also creates useful products or processes and helps human race to get over its problems with microorganism like viruses and bacteria, fungi, algae and protozoa.

Other reason: "The number of job opportunities for microbiologists will increase at a rate as fast as the average for all occupations through the year 2014"



Career: Forensic Science

Education: Certification programs 2 years

Salary: $25 to $60K per year

Motivation for investigating this career: A career in forensic science would be right for anyone interested in solving crimes by collecting crime scene evidence. Forensic technician is fun and horrific job.

After some frustration with the links, here are the careers I liked the most:

4. I thought this career would be interesting becuase I have always liked science, and biologists can follow many different career paths.

1.Zookeeper
2.Some zookeepers go to college for 2 to 4 years, and study the sciences.

4.I really love animals (hence Mr. Chino...haha) and I would LOVE to be around animals all day day becuase they are such intersting creatures.

1. Ecologists
2. Ecologists must have a bachelor’s degree with knowledge in organic and inorganic chemistry, biology, computer science, mathematics, physics, statistics, and calculus.
3. $29,920 - $78,200
4. I choose this career because of the interest I have in relationships among organisms and between organisms and their environments. People always question certain things that happen among organisms and it would be nice to be that one to answer most of those questions.

Botany
4 years of college required
$33,000-$36,366 It really varies depending on your educational level.
My reason for investigating this career was because the major benefit of this job is being able to improve our medications and food supplies for the better. It's always good to know hat you are working to help someone get back healthy.

Career: Genetics Laboratory Technician

Number of years of education required: At least four

Salary: $18,000 to $36,000 or more, depending on the employer, geographical location,and the supply of and demand for qualified technicians

Reasoning/motivation for investigating this career: I am very interested in genetics (probably from playing the sims so much) and wouldnt mind having a career of it. Also werent the two main characters in Splice Geneticists? Yeah. . . that job would be amazing.


Career: DNA Analysist

Number of years of education required: four to six years

Salary: $62,000 - $75,000

Reasoning/motivation for investigating this career: I love watching Law and Order: SVU and how they always go to the woman with the curly hair (the forensic scientist) to help solve the crimes. I like to figure things out too, so this would be a good career for me.

1. Career - Oceanography
2. Education - A minimum of four years of college
3. Salary - Around $60,000 a year
4. Reason - Being an Oceanographer means you learn to study marine life. I've never been to an ocean, but everything about oceans and ocean life interests me. I would enjoy studying marine organisms and the way pollutants effect it, which falls under the field of a chemical oceanographer. Understanding how the ocean currents move around the globe and how the ocean affects climate sounds interesting to me.


1. Career - Ecology
2. Education - At least a bachelor's degree and be at least proficient in subjects like math, physics, computer science, biology and chemistry
3. Salary - Entry level salary=$29,920 a year. Average salary=$47,600 a year. And Maximum salary=$78,200 a year.
4. Reason - This career was interesting to me because I have an interest for outdoors and wildlife, I am good with communication skills and teamwork, and I also love writing, critical thinking and problem solving. To be an ecologist you have to study and observe animals and work to protect them. You collect and analyze data and have to be interested in nature and the outdoors.

Marine Biologist
four to six years of college (NOT TRADE SCHOOL HAHA)

i decided to choose this because when i was younger i wanted to be a marine biologist and i never really knew what all went into it.

Biologist (Ms. Hancock!)

4.)Reasoning: I liked this career beacaus it deals with nature and get to find out new plants that are being discovered.

FORENSIC SCIENTIST
2.) Years of education: 4 year degree in physics, biology, microbiology,chemistry, medical technology, or genetics
3.) Salary: Between $35,000- $50,000
4.) Reason : I liek this career because its a career i am actually going into for college. Also because it breaks up into different parts, so that you can be in DNA or become a coroner.

That's one thing I liked about Forensic Science, the fact that it's divided into many specific sections of work, so instead of having to do everything alone, you have a team with a person in each position skilled and specifically trained in that position.

Yep, The main characters in Splice were geneticists. That seems like it could be a very stressful career, but still very fun if you could have as much freedom with your work like the characters in Splice.

oceanography seems like a good choice for wealth and a little fun too if you like to study the ocean and stuff. The 4-5 years of college seems nice; it'll give you a pretty good view of the ocean and everything combined with it. A forensic scientist sounds a little bit more fun (atleast to me). I may never become one, but if i had to chose between the 2, I'd choose that one, despite the little lacking top salary. You did pretty good.

Ethology, no offense, seems like the most boring field ever! lol. I most def wouldn't be wanting to do that for a living. A marine biologist on the other hand sounds like a fun and very, very rewarding major. If you like marine life then omg, are you in for a treat. haha. Of the 2, I'd most likely lean toward Marine Biologist, partly drawn in by the huge salary.

I did not know that Microbiology careers can make you that much money per year. Who ever has that job probably has a couple nice sports cars and a good size house.

I would love that job after 30 years it would be nice if stores like walmart paid like that. I would agree i would go into that for the enormous salary too.

Ive always liked learning about Forensic Science and i also would ahve thought that they would be making a lot more money then what was stated since they are dealing with humans and all.! It shocked me at how low their pay is!

I would love to have that job so i can have big bucks! but of coarse i have to work for what i want.!

I can see why the salary would drive people away because who wants to study and touch bugs all the time for a low income? I wouldn't . You must have a passion for insects being that you chose Entomology as an career interest.

Forensic Science seems like a really cool thing to do. I think that it would be pretty cool to help figure out crimes and figure out how the person died. I like to watch CSI and I think that its pretty cool of what they do.

Oceanography seems pretty cool. The ocean is pretty cool and there is some neat wild life there. It would be awesome to study the wild life, plants and sea creatures that love in the ocean.
